Abstract  There is a very close relationship across Area Studies, World History and International Relations. World History is a first-level discipline, and International Relations is a second-level discipline under the Political Science categorized as the first-level discipline. In September 2022, the Ministry of Education released a new version of the discipline catalogue recognizing Area Studies as a first-level discipline under the catalogue of Interdisciplinary Disciplines. This discipline offers degrees in economics, law, literature and history, thus having its distinctive features and academic roots. World History has a fundamental role as the disciplinary underpinning for Area Studies and International Relations. In an interdisciplinary context, World History and International Relations have been converging around historical, contemporary and future realities. As a new huge disciplinary cluster, the establishment and construction of the first-level discipline of Area Studies has been activating the disciplinary potential for developing the World History and International Relations, overcoming their bottlenecks for development, expanding their disciplinary boundaries, enhancing the intersectional and inter-constructive capacity of the disciplines, and exploring new paths for the development of the disciplines of World History and International Relations.
