Abstract It contains complex coopetition relationships in East Asia. The special historical, cultural traditions and realistic power structure have been shaping jointly the symbiotic order in East Asia that facilitates handling relationships and promotes the coexistence of both the strong and the weak. Under the symbiotic order, the actors of varied types of power play their specific roles in the process of interaction, thus driving the international relationships develop towards mutually beneficial cooperation rather than intense confrontation.
